Groton – Emergency personnel have cleared the scene of a car fire and several other minor accidents on the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, just north of Exit 88, police said.
Highway traffic was reduced to one lane while police and fire officials were at the scene, state police in the Montville barracks said.
The car caught fire around 4:15 p.m. and was pulled off on the breakdown lane, said Margot Pordes, who was driving on I-95 North when she witnessed the fire. Several cars appeared to have rear-ended other vehicles in the aftermath of the fire, Pordes said.
No major injuries were reported.
