The National Federation of Independent Business endorsed Paul Formica, the Republican candidate for U.S. Congress for the 2nd district, it was announced at a press conference Friday.

The national small business advocacy and lobbying group announced that Formica has worked both locally and in Hartford to advocate for small businesses.

"Paul truly embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and the American dream," announced Andy Markowski, the state director for NFIB Connecticut.

The endorsement was announced at Flanders Fish Market, the restaurant Formica founded 29 years ago with his late wife.

Formica said he has been meeting with small business owners from around the district for the past four months.

The campaign will release a event schedule of Formica's upcoming events, including tours of small businesses with local leaders and "meet and greets" around the district within the next few days, said John Kleinhans, Formica's campaign manager.
