Montville — The town’s popular “Trick or Trunk” event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 for the second year at the Leonard J. Tyl Middle School.

The event, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m., is designed to allow children a safe way to trick or treat for candy.

Organizers are asking people to decorate the trunks of their cars or vehicles in a Halloween theme. Prizes will be awarded to those with the scariest, funniest, most creative and most original trunk. One participant designed the back of a pickup truck last year in a graveyard theme.

Organizers said those participating should expect visitors to each vehicle to exceed 400 people. All participating vehicles must be parked in the designated area by 5:30 p.m. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter or exit this area between 5:30 and 8:15.

Steve Elci and Friends are also scheduled to perform at 7. All registered trunks will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets to see the Smashing Pumpkins at Mohegan Sun on Nov. 4.

Advance registration is required for those decorating trunks. Those people are asked to provide their name, address, email and telephone number to the Parks and Recreation Department by Oct. 25. For additional information, email montvilletrickortrunk@gmail.com. The rain date for this event will be Sunday, Oct. 28.
