Lyme – One child was taken to the hospital as a precaution Thursday following a school bus crash on Route 156, or Hamburg Road.
About 20 Lyme Consolidated School students were on the M&J bus headed south on Route 156, or Old Hamburg Road, at 3:29 p.m. when a northbound pickup truck swerved across the roadway and struck the side of the bus, Lyme Assistant Fire Chief Dave Roberge said.
The 20 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, except for the one transported, and the driver were evaluated for injury and refused treatment, Roberge said. Each child had to wait for a parent to pick them up from the crash site, Roberge said.
Lyme-Old Lyme Superintendent Ian Neviaser came to the scene to ensure each student met up with a parent safely.
