I am writing this letter in hopes to shine a light on the individuals I call stars. To say that I am grateful to the volunteers of Beacon Hospice for their compassionate hearts and the gift of their presence shared so openly with our patients here in the Mystic area and the surrounding communities would be an understatement.

They take time out of their busy schedules to be with patients who might otherwise not have visitors. Holding a hand, talking, listening or simply sitting quietly; they fill moments with such meaning and acceptance to the journey that lies ahead. They do this willingly and ask for nothing in return. They are our very own shining stars and I appreciate them.

More stars are needed and I welcome anyone interested in joining our volunteer team.
