Bill Cutler is back in the race.
The Mystic Republican , who dropped out of the race for the 43rd state House District seat last month, said Tuesday that he is now running as write-in candidate.
"I'm running for the same reason I did in the first place," he said. "I don't think people should be denied an opportunity to move in a different direction."
Last week, six-term Democratic incumbent Diana Urban announced that she was returning much of the state election grant she had received because the Republicans had not put forth a candidate to replace Cutler by the required deadline.
Cutler, who was defeated by Urban 5,914-3,112 in the 2010 race, said he is trying to get the word out that he is back in the race. He said he will be placing some newspaper advertisements and doing some door-to-door campaigning. He also would like to participate in a candidates' forum with Urban.
