Man killed in Salem car crash

Salem — A Texas man was killed Sunday night when he lost control of his car on Route 11.

Police said that Michael Proctor, 20, of Pearland, was driving south on Route 11 in the vicinity of Exit 5 when for some unknown reason he lost control of his 2000 Lincoln LS. The accident was reported at 8:16 p.m.

The car traveled off the left shoulder, striking numerous trees in the median of the limited access highway, police said.

He was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
