Woman flown to Rhode Island Hospital after Ledyard rollover

Ledyard — A Ledyard woman was seriously injured Friday morning when the car she was in rolled over on Pumpkin Hill Road, trapping her inside.

Ledyard police said at 10:57 a.m. they responded to the accident. Jessica Houde, 21, of 38 Meetinghouse Lane was found inside the vehicle and had to be extricated.

Houde was taken by Life Star helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital. The Old Mystic Fire Department assisted with establishing a landing zone on Deer Lane.

The Ledyard and Gales Ferry fire departments, along with the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad and Mohegan Tribal Paramedics, responded to the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Ledyard Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team.
