2nd Congressional District debate set for Monday

Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney and his Republican challenger in the Second Congressional District East Lyme First Selectman Paul Formica are scheduled to take part in a one-hour debate Monday.

The debate will take place at 7 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium on the campus of Connecticut College in New London and will be open to the public.

The debate is being sponsored as part of a cooperative effort of The Day, Connecticut College and Connecticut Public Television. The debate will be covered live on CPTV stations and streamed live on The Day's website,

www.theday.com.

A decision will be made Sunday as to whether the debate will be held as scheduled or will need to be rescheduled because of Hurricane Sandy. A breaking news story will be posted on theday.com Sunday night.
