Flip-Flop Gymnastics Competes at Muriel Grossfield Invite

On Oct. 21, Flip-Flop Gymnastics' Level 5 and 6 teams competed in the Muriel Grossfeld Invitational at Southern Connecticut State University.

The Level 5s performed well and came in third place in the team competition. Brianna Livingston of Killingworth placed seventh all-around and posted a high score of 8.4 on vault, Corinne Fowler of Deep River came in second on bars with an 8.8 and placed fifth in the all-around, and Maria Denya of Moodus placed fourth on floor with an 8.7 and second on vault with a high score of 9.1 while Mia Lawrence of Haddam placed third on vault with an 8.8 in her first Level 5 meet.

The Level 6s had a strong start to their season and placed first as a team. Cassidy Kehlenbach of Deep River placed first all-around with a 35.9, second on vault with a 9.3, first on bars with a 9.3, third on beam with an 8.45, and first on floor with an 8.85. Cara Cahill of Lyme came in second place all-around with a 35.425, fourth place on vault with a 9.2, second place on bars with an 8.85, first on beam with an 8.75, and third on floor with an 8.65. Chloe Cahill of Lyme placed second in the all-around for her age group with a 35.3, first on vault with a 9.35, first on bars with an 8.5, fourth on beam with an 8.8, and second on floor with an 8.65. Ella Gibson of Essex placed third in the all-around with a 34.625, third on bars with an 8.4, third on vault with a 9.25, fourth on beam with an 8.275, and second on floor with an 8.7. Quincy Platt of Higganum came in fourth all-around with a 35.0, fourth on vault with a 9.25, third on bars with an 8.4, third on beam with an 8.85, and fourth on floor with an 8.5. Lily O'Neil of Essex placed second on vault with a 9.15, and second on floor with an 8.75 while Alexandra Batts of Lyme placed fifth on both vault and uneven bars with scores of 9.05 and 7.85, respectively. Shannon Maher of Clinton placed first on balance beam with an 8.75 and posted a high score of 9.05 on vault while Madden Sullivan of Ivoryton had a high score of 8.8 on vault. It was the first Level 6 competition for Batts, Chloe Cahill, O'Neil, Sullivan, and Platt, and all performed well with a great team finish.
