All the time I am hearing that the towns give seniors everything. Well this is what the seniors in the Town of Groton have done in the past year through Groton Senior Citizens "Club 55."

During the past year the Groton Senior Citizens Club has given or donated the following:

Two $500 scholarship awards plus the Coleen Post award $500 and the Dean Award $500; One new treadmill, and repair of two others; $2,000 for fuel assistance; $250 for Thanksgiving turkeys; $250 for Christmas turkeys; $400 for Christmas presents to Social Services for children; $400 for Christmas presents for children for breakfast with Santa at the senior center; a new hairdresser chair; an automatic defibrillator for annex building; $500 for repairs of Jabez Smith house; $500 for Grasso Tech (BioScience-environment program); a system for displaying art at the center from local artists; six easels for an art class at the center; and $4,000 for entertainment for the next year at the center

We have sent 64 boxes of clothing to Landsthul Regional Medical Center for Wounded Warriors, sent there from Afghanistan with nothing but their hospital gowns.
