Langley wins pair of S titles

New Haven - Asia Langley, a Waterford High School sophomore, won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events Tuesday night at the Class S state championship swim meet at Southern Connecticut State University.

Langley took the 50 in 24.46 seconds and the 100 in 53.98 seconds. Langley was the Swimmer of the Meet at the recent Eastern Connecticut Conference championships.

She also swam a leg of the Lancers' fourth place 200 medley relay team and helped the 400 freestyle relay team to a third-place finish. Waterford was fourth with 276 points.

Also swimming on the medley relay team were Meika Gathy, Alison McDermott and Rachel Crawford. Emily Pepin, Gathy and Crawford joined Langley on the 400 free relay team.

Old Lyme's Veronica Lee was third in the 100 butterfly in 1:03.79.
