Shelton — The East Lyme High School volleyball team, in pursuit of its third straight Class L state championship, advanced to the finals with a 3-2 semifinal victory Thursday over top-seeded Joel Barlow of Redding.
The fourth-seeded Vikings (21-3) won 18-25, 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 15-9. Barlow (23-1) had not lost a set all season.
Jillian Bartlett led East Lyme with 36 assists. Emily Ennis added 12 kills, Kayla Fobian 11 kills and Jenna Schumacher five kills and four aces.
East Lyme will play No. 3 Bristol Eastern in the championship match at 4 p.m. Saturday in East Haven.
