East Haven — Ledyard, playing in its first CIAC girls' volleyball state tournament final, came through like seasoned veterans Saturday, beating No. 1 Woodland in the Class M final, 25-17, 25-23 and 25-20.
Ledyard's Kylie Fustini was named most valuable player with 13 kills and two blocks. Also for No. 3 Ledyard (19-5), Brianna Riley had 18 assists and two aces, Michelle Klinikowski had 10 kills and Arianna Fustini had 11 kills.
Ledyard becomes the third Eastern Connecticut Conference team to win a state title in volleyball, joining Norwich Free Academy (Class LL in 2008) and East Lyme (Class L in 2010 and 2011).
