Norwich police plan weekend sobriety checkpoints

Norwich – The police department will hold a sobriety checkpoint within city limits Friday into the early hours Saturday.

Part of the department’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” crackdown on drunken driving, the checkpoint will begin at 5 p.m. Friday and last until 4 a.m. Saturday. Aside from several checkpoints throughout the year, Norwich police announced there will be “saturation” patrols to arrest drunken drivers in an effort to prevent vehicle crashes and deaths.
