Girl Scouts of Connecticut will host the 2012 Breakfast Badge on Friday, December 7, from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. at The Hartford Club in downtown Hartford. The organization is recognizing the work and achievements of State Senator Edith Prague (D-19), who is retiring after 30 years of public service.
Friends and supporters are invited to join this ceremonial Girl Scout breakfast. This event features networking and fundraising to acknowledge Senator Prague’s passion and commitment to the well-being of the citizens of Connecticut, while supporting Girl Scouting's personal and leadership development programs for young women.
Tickets are $98 and can be purchased online at www.gsofct.org. Net proceeds from the Breakfast Badge will support enrichment, educational, recreational, and personal development programs that help girls in grades K - 12 bring out the best in themselves and their communities. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience offers girls the lifetime skills they need to discover their personal best; connect with others to build healthy relationships; and take action in their communities to make the world a better place.
Senator Prague, who is also the Assistant President Pro-Tempore in the State Senate, has represented the residents of the 19th Senatorial District since 1994. She has earned a place of distinction as one of the state’s leading advocates for senior citizens and improved access to affordable healthcare for all residents. She also fights tirelessly for strict standards and tough consequences in her effort to reduce the incidence of drunk driving in Connecticut.
“We are pleased to honor Senator Prague for her commitment to all citizens in Connecticut,” said Mary Barneby, CEO, Girl Scouts of Connecticut. “Senator Prague is an incredible role model for our girls across the state. She is a woman of courage, confidence, and character, who makes the world a better place.”
This event is generously supported by QSP/Ashdon Farms, Hartford Hospital, Robinson & Cole, Hartford Steam Boiler/Munich Re, Lockton Companies, LLC., Trinity College, Eastern Connecticut State University, Hartford Financial Services, and Connecticare.
