Miltiadis & Marianthe Papathanasiou of New London, CT recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren. They were married on September 23, 1962 in Kopani, Greece. After arriving in the United States shortly thereafter, they settled in New London, CT and raised their 3 children. They came to this country with the hope of a better life and have found it. With very little money and formal education, they became successful business owners. They are retired owners and operators of the former Golden Gate Pizza Restaurant & Lounge which was located on Rt. 12 in Groton, CT for 35 years.
