The Shoreline Sailing Club was formed in 1981 when two single women – who loved to sail and had boats – needed crew. 30 years later, this wonderful group of single people, 35 years of age and older, has grown to over 300 members from all over CT, RI and beyond who share sailing/boating opportunities in one of the finest cruising areas in the country, Long Island Sound. Those new to sailing/boating are welcome, as well as experienced skippers and crew. SSC has over 60 skippers seeking crew for their boats. Although we are a sailing club, and our primary mission is sailing, we do many activities besides following our passion for sailing. We also enjoy a wide range of social and recreational activities throughout the year.

The sailing and social calendar is very full. In the summer there are day and sunset sails, weekend sails and a week long cruise. During the off season, SSC members have sailed in Greece, British Virgin Islands, Antigua, Grenadines and St. Vincent’s.

Throughout the year there are parties, group trips, dances, kayaking, golfing, skiing, geocaching events, hiking, theater events, dinners and brunches, and docksides, which are small parties and gatherings in members' homes.

The membership fee is $80 per calendar year ($75 if renewed by 1/31) and non-member guest fees are $10 per meeting.

Members may be initially attracted to the group because of their interest in sailing but they quickly find themselves enjoying the social as well as the nautical aspects of the club. Many members will say that they love the Shoreline Sailing Club because of the great friendships they have made. Please join our unique group for an adventure that goes beyond just the sailing experience – and into a community of fun and friendship that will create many treasured memories. Meetings are held twice a month, on the first and third Thursdays at 7:30 where there is a complimentary light buffet and a cash bar is available. Also visit our website www.shorelinesailingclub.com or for further info call Wayne 860-652-5000.

Meeting location:

Westbrook Elks Lodge 1784
