Groton - A 13-year-old student at West Side Middle School was charged Monday after police said they found a multi-tool with knife in his locker.
City of Groton Police Chief Thomas Davoren said police were alerted to the presence of the knife by school officials. He said a student told his mother that the unnamed 13-year-old had threatened to use the knife to pop a basketball during a dispute over use of the court. The mother contacted the school, Davoren said.
The multi-tool was found during a search of the student’s locker. The teen was issued a juvenile summons charging him with possession of a weapon on school grounds and possession of a dangerous weapon.
