The romance novel is perhaps the most stereotyped genre of literature since Harlequin hired that Fabio guy to pose on one of their covers in a tunic, holding a musket. Yet there are exactly 2,409 different subgenres of romance novel.
In the realm of contemo-realism, Britain's Jojo Moyes (above) is one of the best going. Her new novel, "Me Before You," has earned praised in O, The Oprah magazine as well as a starred review in Publishers Weekly. Moyes is on a U.S. tour that brings her Monday to the Oyster Club in Mystic for a special dining/reading/signing event. The appearance is sponsored by Bank Square Books.
Tickets are $75 and include a three-course dinner, a signed copy of "Me Before You" and, of course, a discussion with Moyes. For more information, call (860) 536-3795 or access banksquarebooks.com.
