Donald Gordon, Chairperson of The Friends of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Citrus Sale, reports a record 2,700 pounds of fresh Florida oranges and grapefruits were donated to the Gemma Moran Food Bank in New London. The fruit was collected through the Friends of the Symphony sale which raises money for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra. An optional component gives buyers the opportunity to check a box and donate part or all of their order to the food bank.

Many volunteers sold the fruit and worked in its distribution based in the Waterfalls Shopping Center in Waterford. The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra participates in the “Orchestras Feeding the Hungry” national program.
