Petition Against Branford Gun Sales

A Branford resident, Tracey Scheer, has started an on-line petition asking First Selectman Anthony "Unk"DaRos to pass an ordinance against selling guns/firearms in Branford. She lists the reason for the petition as "To maintain the character of our Town, safeguard our citizens, and reduce tragedy in our schools."

Branford allows gun stores, and has businesses which sell guns, but one which seems to be striking a nerve is yet to open, TGS Outdoors, which will sell guns for "shooting sports" among it's inventory, along the same lines as the former North Cove Outfitters in Old Saybrook, co-owner Brian Owens told The Sound in a recent interview.  The store has received all zoning approvals needed to open on Main Street and should be opening by late January, early February.
