Sprague – A two-alarm fire Tuesday morning forced students at the Academy of the Holy Family in Baltic to evacuate temporarily as firefighters fought the small blaze.

Baltic Fire Chief Les Shull reported minor damage to the exterior of the brick building near the high school's entrance after the 10:40 a.m. fire. No injuries were reported.

The blaze was under control in about 20 minutes, Shull said, and firefighters cleared the scene about an hour later, once smoke was ventilated from the building. Nuns and students were evacuated from the portion of the building affected by the fire, he said.

Shull said he called in a second alarm because of the age of the building and because of the students inside. Several other fire companies were brought in for mutual aid, he said.

The fire remains under investigation by the Baltic Fire Marshal, Shull said.
