Judy Dworin Performance Project performs "Meditations from a Garden Seat"
Dancer and theater artist Judy Dworin drew inspiration for her work "Meditations from a Garden Seat" from a piece created by inmates at the York Correctional Institution in Niantic.
As part of the Dworin dance company's arts residency there, they asked prisoners to write text and songs and to create dances. At the heart of it all was the idea that gardens can be a source of healing and regeneration.
Excerpts of the resulting piece will be performed by the Judy Dworin Performance Project Sunday at Chester's Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek.
A discussion with the dancers will follow the performance.
