New London — Police are investigating the Thursday night robbery of the Galaxy convenience store at 121 Montauk Ave.

Police said they received a 911 call around 7 p.m. to report a possible robbery in progress. When police arrived, they quickly established a perimeter.

Police said the clerk chased the suspect down to Moore Avenue, where the robber took a "hard fall". The suspect then continued down Moore Avenue. A short time later a resident at 95 Shaw St. called police dispatch, and said someone was banging on her door. When police arrived, they found evidence of the robbery outside the dwelling.

Police said the suspect fled with a small amount of cash. They would not say what kind of weapon was used.

The suspect is described as a black male around 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing around 200 pounds.
