The Avalonia Land Conservancy Inc. has announced that it is seeking members for its Board of Directors as well as volunteers.

While the nonprofit land trust said a background in accounting, marketing, fundraising or public relations would be particularly valuable as a board member, "the only essential prerequisite is a passion for conservation and a willingness to help." There are four to nine meetings per year to attend. The organization is also looking for volunteers to serve on its finance, personnel, development and public relations committees.

The conservancy protects more than 3,000 acres in southeastern Connecticut. For more information, call (860) 884-3500 or email avalonialc@yahoo.com.
