Norwich – Fourteen Norwich Public Utilities customers at the city’s northern border remain without power this afternoon, but the city-owned utility cannot restore their power until a downed Connecticut Light & Power line is removed from NPU lines.

NPU spokesman Mike Hughes said NPU informed CL&P at 7:30 a.m. that the company’s line was down on top of NPU lines. But the large private utility told NPU officials crews are not expected to repair that line until about 4:30 p.m.

“We can’t touch their equipment, so we have to wait,” Hughes said.

He said NPU crews will have about an hour’s work to do to restore the Barbers Road customers once the CL&P line is removed.
