Published March 18. 2013 4:00AM

New London firefighters freed a woman from her car Sunday after it flipped on its roof near Water Street and Governor Winthrop Boulevard. Police responded to the incident, which appeared to involve another car, at 3:48 p.m. Several firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove a door from the flipped Mustang GT and were able to help the woman, who was conscious, out of the vehicle and onto a stretcher. She was taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Traffic was detoured from Water Street for a short period.
