New London — The Coast Guard Band’s Chamber Players Recital Series features a concert of brass ensemble music at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, in Leamy Concert Hall at the Coast Guard Academy.
The Band’s Brass Quintet performs “Fire Dance” to highlight the virtuosic ensemble playing of the group. Chief Musician Adam Crowe conducts the brass band piece, “All the Flowers of the Forest: Reflections on a Scottish Folksong.”
The Band’s trombone section performs “Suite of Lieder,” a group of three songs originally for choir, and Musician First Class Joel Baroody displays his talents as conductor and arranger of the symphonic poem “October,” written to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the October revolution. Senior Chief Musician Brian Nichols and Chief Musician Kelly Watkins are also featured conductors.
This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.
