On June 27, the Branford Democratic Town Committee recognized Board of Education (BOE) Chairman Frank Carrano, who is retiring from service, with a plaque thanking him for many years of service to the town, the town's Democratic party, and the children of Branford. Carrano has spent his entire professional career in education as a teacher, negotiator, arbitrator, and consultant. With both B.S. and M.S. degrees from Southern Connecticut State Unversity (SCSU), he is now an adjunct professor there. He was a member of the Connecticut Commission for Educational Excellence that focused on the improvement of public education in Connecticut, and currently coordinates an SCSU/New Haven Public Schools collaboration that has developed four professional development schools. His recent roles with the BOE also include chair of the Communication Committee as well as membership on the Education Committee and Administrator Negotiation Committee.
