New London — The city’s vice and narcotics division joined with state and federal law enforcement officials early Wednesday in a raid at a Coit Street apartment where police say synthetic marijuana and other drugs were being stored and sold.

Four people were arrested at the scene, and police said they seized more than a pound of synthetic marijuana, along with crack cocaine, marijuana, liquid codeine, packaging material, scales and other drug paraphernalia.

New London police, who had developed information about the alleged narcotics dealing, were joined Wednesday by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Connecticut State Police Emergency Services and Statewide Narcotics Eastern District during the execution of a search-and-seizure warrant at 59 Coit St., Apt. 2.

Police said several adults and six minor children were located inside the residence.

Arrested at the scene was Daniel Defreese, 24, of 59 Coit St., Apt. 3; Jose Caban, 37, of 59 Coit St., Apt. 3; Cain Defreese, 21, of 59 Coit St., Apt. 2; and Elijah Walker, 24, of 19 Jay St.

All face a host of drug-related charges that include possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to sell, operating a drug factory and possession of synthetic marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school. Caban was additionally charged with six counts of risk of injury to a minor.

Daniel Defreese and Caban were each held in lieu of a $75,000 bond. Cain Defreese and Walker were held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
