Norwich – Two firefighters were promoted during a badge-pinning ceremony Friday at the Norwich Fire Department.

Fire Chief Kenneth Scandariato promoted former Capt. Stuart Carter to the rank of battalion chief and firefighter Matthew Reissner to the rank of lieutenant.

Carter has 24 years of service with the department and Reissner has 11 years.

The promotions follow the recent retirements of Battalion Chief Brad Keltonic, a 29-year veteran with the department, and Lt. Doug Smith, who served 30 years.
