Here's a pre-game preview of tonight's UConn-Detroit game:

UConn, 6-0 jr. guard Ryan Boatright (11.5 pts), 6-1 sr. guard Shabazz Napier (16 pts, 9 rebs, 8.5 assists), 6-5 so. guard Omar Calhoun (14 pts), 6-8 jr. forward DeAndre Daniels (4 pts), 6-10 so. center Phil Nolan (3 pts, 2 rebs)

-- Noteworthy:

First of four games in the 2K Sports Classic tournament that culminates with two games in New York next week. UConn hosts Boston University on Sunday in Storrs.

-- Tonight is the Gampel Pavilion home opener.

-- Detroit is the last non-conference team to win in Storrs, posting a 67-61 win in second round of 2001 NIT. Since that loss, Huskies won 39 straight at Gampel.

-- Titans picked to finish eighth in Horizon League preseason poll. They lost four starters from an NIT team last season.

-- Player to watch: Howard Jr., the leading scorer and rebounder and son of former NBA player Juwan Howard.

-- Top reserve: fr. guard Jarod Williams (11.5 pts).

-- As always, rebounding is the focus tonight. The Titans average 51.5 rebs per game, including 22.5 on the offensive end. UConn is minus 4.5 in rebounding margin in two games.

-- Reserve power: Huskies are averaging 30.5 points from reserves. Sr. Niels Giffey is scoring 14.0 points off the bench.

-- Hot: UConn is shooting 52.5 percent from 3-point range.

-- Cold: Daniels is averaging just four points on 4-for-14 shooting.

-- The 2K Sports Classic will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Sgt. First Class Micah Welintukonis of Coventry will be the honorary captain tonight. He has served in the Army for 19 years and been deployed to Kosovo (1999), Iraq (2004) and Afghanistan (2012).
