New London – Police are searching for the suspect in a robbery Tuesday evening in the downtown area where they say a woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint by a masked man.

The incident occurred at 7:05 p.m. in the area of Bank and Blinman streets, according to a statement from Deputy Chief Peter Reichard. The victim said the suspect was a black man wielding a silver handgun whose face was covered by a gray ski mask. There were no reported injuries.

The man was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and wearing gray sweatpants and sweatshirt. He fled the area on foot in the direction of Reed Street.

Police continued to investigate late Wednesday and ask anyone with information to contact police at (860) 447-5269.

The holidays aren't the big to-do they used to be, but my family and friends manage to keep the holiday spirit just as much as we used to. If anything, our holidays are less gift-focused than in the past.
I've gotten accustomed to slow financial times and have been budgeting for holiday spending more effectively. I hate to disappoint family at this time of the year.
The holidays have always been stressful. I struggle every year to get all the gifts I plan to give in time.
I don't find myself being as giving to neighbors, charities and those outside of the family, but shopping for my loved ones is as generous as it has been in the past.
I'd be happy to share what my spending has been, but I haven't gotten around to shopping yet. Holiday shopping is always a last minute event for me.
