Salem – A single-car crash temporarily shut down Route 82 west of Route 354 on Saturday afternoon.

Just before 12:30 p.m., a Ford E350 van traveling west on Route 82 with six passengers went off the eastbound side of the road and struck a utility pole, state police said. The collision knocked the pole down, forcing the closure of the roadway.

All six passengers were taken by ambulance to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, though an accident report said only the driver sustained an injury.

I am not a gun owner and I will sleep better knowing that we are doing more to keep track of gun ownership in our state.

I am not a gun owner but I feel that these registration requirements and bans infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of those who wish to own weapons.

As a gun owner, I support these registrations and bans. Irresponsible gun owners give a bad name to the rest of us who exercise our Second Amendment rights responsibly. Guns are only as safe as the people who own them.

As a gun owner, I will be registering my weapons. Whether I agree with the reasoning behind it or not, the threat of a minimum of one year in prison for violations is enough incentive for me to comply.

As a gun owner, I feel these mandatory registrations and the bans infringe upon my rights. I am a responsible citizen and I will be exercising my Second Amendment rights by refusing to comply with these mandates.

I am a gun owner but I do not have any guns that will require registration.
