Groton – A Lisbon man is facing a host of criminal and motor vehicle charges following a short police chase Wednesday that included a crash in the city.
Christopher A. Kotyk, 29, of 10 Phillips Road in Lisbon was arrested after a chase that started at 2:25 p.m. in the area of Route 12, near Kings Highway.
Groton Town Police Lt. James Bee said an officer had attempted to stop Kotyk when he took off. Bee said Kotyk was on Bridge Street when he struck a vehicle at the intersection of Broad Street.
Police said Kotyk abandoned his vehicle at Thames Street and Military Highway and fled on foot.
Officers searched the area and arrested Kotyk in a yard on Church Street. Police said no injuries were reported in the pursuit or crash.
Kotyk was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, engaging an officer in pursuit, driving with a suspended license, possession of heroin, interfering with an officer, misuse of marker plates and driving an uninsured and unregistered motor vehicle.
Kotyk has outstanding warrants on motor vehicle charges from Waterford and state police. Held in lieu of a $50,000 bond, Kotyk is due to appear Thursday in New London Superior Court.
