Democratic Town Committee (DTC) Chairman Gene Ruocco will not only be giving up his chairmanship of the party, but also his seat as district representative.
At the recent DTC party membership vote, Ruocco and Robert Hoff lost their District 3 seats to residents Kevin Dacey and Clare Cifarelli.
Dacey lost by a single vote in his recent bid for Town Council.
Dacey ran as a Democrat under a slate of candidates that had backed retired Police Sgt. Gary DePalma’s mayoral campaign. DePalma lost against Jack Stacey. Stacey, who won a September Democratic primary against DePalma, lost the November mayoral election to incumbent Joseph Maturo, Jr.
Ruocco has been a stalwart of the Democratic Party for 30 years in East Haven.
