Colchester — Route 354 in Colchester fully reopened to traffic shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday following an early morning crash that claimed the life of an Uncasville man and severed a utility pole, sending power lines into the roadway.
Charles Malloy, 22, of 150 Gay Hill Road, Uncasville, died when his westbound pickup truck went off the right side of the road just east of Maclyn Drive at 2:37 a.m. Police said he was the sole occupant of the Chevrolet Silverado.
The left side of the truck hit a utility pole, according to state police from Troop K in Colchester. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its roof. Power lines fell across the roadway.
Malloy was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
