West Hartford (AP) — A Connecticut woman was charged with attempted murder after police say she tortured her 70-year-old mother for more than three hours.
Forty-seven-year-old Gail Litsky was arraigned Monday in Hartford Superior Court and is detained on $500,000 bail. She's also charged with cruelty to persons, strangulation and assault on a person older than 60.
Police say Litsky went to her mother's home in West Hartford Friday night and assaulted her over a few hours by repeatedly striking her in the face and body, cutting her with a knife and using her necklace to choke her.
Authorities say the assaults stopped after Litsky's teenage daughter called police.
Litsky's mother is being treated at a hospital.
It's not clear if Litsky has a lawyer. She is expected to undergo a mental health evaluation.
