Police Warn of Thefts from Vehicles

The Guilford Police Department has been receiving numerous reports of car being entered and valuables taken during the hours of darkness over the past several weeks.

Most vehicle that have been entered are unlocked and are in the victims (residence) driveways. Vehicles are usually ransacked when entered.

Taken from these cars is generally loose change, cash, and pocketbooks, however other items of value have been also reported stolen, such as cameras, vehicle GPS, and other electronic devices.

The latest of these thefts from cars occurred on the overnight in the School Side Lane area of town. As of this writing, five cars were reported entered last night and valuables were taken. Similar thefts have occurred in the Valley Shores, Sawmill Road, and Horseshoe Road areas of town. In total 28 thefts have taken place since March 1.

Police are advising all residence to remove all valuables and lock their cars. Report any suspicious activity or information regarding these thefts immediately to the Guilford Police Department at 203-453-8060.
