Norwich - The Norwich Democratic Town Committee unanimously endorsed incumbent Democratic state Rep. Emmett Riley in the 46th District state House race.

"I'm very proud and honored to be ale to serve the citizens' of Norwich for a second term if I'm elected," Riley said after receiving the party's endorsement. Riley was elected in the fall of 2012 to the seat that was vacated by his wife, former state Rep. Melissa Riley, in the district that covers the southern and urban sections of Norwich.

Because the 46th District covers a single municipality, the party town committees are authorized to hold caucuses to endorse candidates.

The Republican Town Committee unanimously endorsed Robert Dempsky to challenge Riley.
