New Haven - St. Thomas More came away with its first title at the National Prep men's basketball tournament at Albertus Magnus College.
The fourth-seeded Chancellors (30-7) beat No. 1 Hargrave Military Academy of Virginia 90-76 in the semifinals and beat No. 3 Notre Dame Prep of Baltimore 90-74 in the title game.
Tournament Most Valuable Player Andre Drummond, a high school junior, scored 35 points in the two games, including 21 in the final. Damion Lee scored 46 points, Fairfield-bound Adam Jones had 27 points and St. Anselm-bound Roy Mabrey scored 22 against Hargrave.
