For the second straight year, Norwich Golf Course professional John Paesani has qualified for the U.S. Senior Open.

Paesani, 52, earned his spot by shooting a 4-under 68 Monday at Colgate University's Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton, N.Y. He was the co-medalist along with Champions Tour players Steve Pate and Willie Wood.

The U.S. Senior Open is set for July 28-31 at Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio. Paesani was the only non-tour player to qualify on Monday, beating out a tough field that included 26 tour professionals. He recorded five birdies, including one on the final hole to avoid a playoff, and just one bogey.

“Just look at names of guys that I'm in front of, guys that play nearly every week on the Champions Tour," Paesani said. "It showed me that I could compete.”
