Book Discussion and Signing with Bob Miller

Monday   TIME:  7:00 pm to

Bob Miller, author of “An American Nazi Spy,” will discuss his experience researching and eventually writing “A True Story of An American Nazi Spy: William Curtis Colepaugh” at 7 p.m. May 6 at the Niantic Bay Yacht Club in the Crescent Beach section of Niantic.
Colepaugh was born and raised in Black Point. His interest in all things German brought him to the country in the late 1930’s where he was recruited to return to this country as a spy and to commit espionage. Realizing he had no choice but to go along with the plan, he was put ashore along with a German National, off a German UBoat in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Having the advantage of being a friend of Colepaugh, Miller provides an extensive detail into his early years and the path which led to Colepaugh’s downfall. Miller will discuss his research for the book and how Colepaugh managed to function as a successful businessman, community member and husband after serving 15 years of a life sentence. Books will be available for purchase and signing at this free program sponsored by the East Lyme Historical Society.
