Casting Light on Connecticut Witches

Wednesday   TIME:  6:30 pm to

Between 1642 and 1693, at least 40 people in the colony of Connecticut were tried as witches, and at least 10 of them were hanged. Most of them were women. Hear about these women, their lives, and their accusers at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at North Stonington’s Wheeler Library.
Fully costumed, fully incensed and frightened, actress Virginia Wolf portrays five women accused of witchcraft in her one-woman show, “Panic in Connecticut; Accused Witches Have Their Say.” Wolf sheds light on the puritan society that condemned so-called witches to their death 30 years before the hysterics of Salem, Mass.
Sponsored by the Friends of Wheeler Library and the North Stonington Historical Society, the show is free.
Wheeler Library is located at 101 Main St. and can be reached at (860) 535-0383.
