Santa’s Arrival and Annual Mystic Holiday Boat Parade

Santa comes to Mystic on Saturday, arriving precisely at 2 p.m. on the John Paul tugboat, at the dock of the Mystic River Park. He will greet the crowds and listen to all the children’s holiday wishes. Christmas carols and a mini-performance from the characters of the Mystic Ballet’s Nutcracker will take place in the park as children wait for Santa to arrive.
Later in the evening, gather around and sing a carol as the tree in Mystic River Park is lit at 6 p.m. A few carols later at 6:15 p.m. the 10th annual Mystic Holiday Lighted Boat Parade and Toy Drive will begin. Watch from Mystic River Park or across the river as 25 vessels glide down the Mystic River decorated with a multitude of lights. Judging and awards take place for the most spectacular vessels. Due to bridge construction the entire parade will take place south of the bridge. The parade will line up and begin at Seaport Marine, pass Mystic River Park, circle in front of the bridge and then loop down in front of the Amtrak Bridge. After performing another loop some boats will tie up at the park. Spectators are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center any time throughout the day to the Mystic River Park.
