Brief Monuments: Making and Unmaking Memory Exhibit Reception; Friday, October, 12, 2012

Friday  6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

The Orison Project, a contemporary art gallery in Essex, Ct. presents its sixth exhibition, Brief Monuments: Making and Unmaking Memory, curated by Stephen Vincent Kobasa. This exhibit marks the first group show at the gallery and runs until October 20.

At the center of this installation will be a piece of sculpture – an anti-memorial – that has not been exhibited in over sixty years, circled by the work of seven American photographers, with each image a variation on reading the landscape for traces of the violence in this country's mangled memory. The participating artists include sculptor Heinz Warneke and photographers Paul Duda, Walker Evans, Lys Guillorn, Robert Lisak, Oscar Palacio, Katia Porter, William Williams.
