The Shoreline Chorale Presents "In Music's Voice From Poet's Pen"

The Shoreline Chorale Presents

Saturday  4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

With its new Music Director, Rachael Allen, the Shoreline Chorale presents a program of choral music set to poetry, titled "In Music's Voice from Poet's Pen," and featuring local harpist Megan Sesma of Madison. The program is highlighted by a three piece set called "Harlem Songs" by Gwyneth Walker with poems by Langston Hughes. This music descriptively represents the spirit and sounds of Harlem with spirituals, street sounds, and jazz rhythms. Other pieces include Night, Sleep, Death and the Stars, an expressive piece with harp accompaniment, composed by Daniel Gawthrop using poetry by Walt Whitman, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring by J.S. Bach, Set Me as a Seal by Clausen, Sure on This Shining Night by Barber, Sing We and Chant It by Morley, and Seal Lullaby by Whitacre.
