Raptors & Rehabilitation: Where Birds Meet People

Raptors & Rehabilitation: Where Birds Meet People; Friday, February, 9, 2018

Friday  1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Opening Reception at the Guilford Free Library Saturday 2/3/2018 from 1:30 - 3:30pm for Raptors & Rehabilitation: Where Birds Meet People by Sophie Zyla. Misty, a Barred Owl and Grace from A Place Called Hope will be guest visitors at the opening.

Birds are hiding in plain sight in cities, suburbs, and the natural places our paths take us. The images of all but one of the birds of prey in this exhibit must remain in captivity due to circumstances caused mainly be encounters with humanity and/or our inventions. Despite our best efforts and medical care some do die but many are released back to the wild to continue the lives they were born to live. Some birds have a personality and disposition that allows them to become ambassadors, educators, and acquaintances of humans. As our human and animal paths cross collisions are inevitable. We have the capacity to hurt but also the ability to help. Raptors & Rehabilitation: Where Birds Meet People includes images of ambassador birds from A Place Called Hope along with information on raptors and on rehabilitation in CT.

The exhibit will be available for viewing in the gallery and meeting room of the library during their normal business hours for the month of February.
