The Connecticut River Artisans' Annual Holiday Show

Connecticut River Artisans Cooperative, Inc., 5 West Main Street , Chester,

opening reception 2-5 p.m. Nov. 5; ;show runs through Dec. 30; The show will continue through December 30, with a Friday, December 2 Reception at 5-8pm. This reception will be in conjunction with Chester's Townwide Holiday Night, which includes the Annual Tree Lighting and Caroling. Some of this year's Holiday exhibitors include Lucille Scelfo of North Branford. Lucille designs Hand painted, Marbled 100% Silk scarves, men's ties and other accessories. Amber Golanski, of East Hampton, is a new Holiday exhibitor with her original, hand-dyed toddler clothing. The Bunny Barn designs are all originals. Barbara Delicata, of Higganum, is a returning Pottery exhibitor. Her bowls and plates have been popular items.

Festival of Lessons and Carols for Advent

Christ Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly, RI

The Annual Festival of Lesson and Carols for Advent at Christ Church Westerly, will be held on Sunday, Nov. 27th at 5 pm. The Festival will feature choral music by the Christ Church Choir, congregational singing of Advent carols, and the reading of the lessons foretelling the coming of the Christ child. The Festival is modeled on the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols first held on Christmas Eve in 1918 at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England, has been described as one that presents the story of the coming and birth of Christ in an ambience of “mystery, splendor, hope and joy”. Following the service will be a reception in the parish hall. Are are welcome and the event is free.

Diana - A Celebration

Direct from the Althorp Estate in England comes an award-winning exhibition featuring more than 150 personal objects celebrating the life and work of Diana, Princess of Wales, including her royal wedding gown, 28 designer dresses, family heirlooms, personal mementos, and rare home movies. This will be the only Northeastern engagement.

Annual Thanksgiving Walk

Commuter Lot, Off of Exit 70, Old Lyme, CT

Join the annual Old Saybrook Land Trust Sunday, Nov. 27, 1
p.m., weather permitting. Walk along the Old Lyme shoreline from White Sands Beach to Griswold Point and back for a great off-season beach stroll with natural history narration and some speculation about sea level rise. Judy Preston (Tidewater
Institute)and Barbara Guenther will lead the walk. If the weather is too challenging for a November beach walk, we'll head inland, and upland, to the Champlain Farms preserve, also in Old Lyme. This site affords a more protected walk through the woods, with access to hills, ledges and small streams. Meet, 1 p.m., I-95 park and ride in Old Lyme (exit 70) and carpool to the site. Wear: walking shoes, layers; bring water, walking stick, and PLEASE, no dogs.
